Zen Teacher Domyo Burk addresses Western Zen as it Grows Up and Faces the Koan of Race

Zen Teacher Domyo Burk addresses Western Zen as it Grows Up and Faces the Koan of Race October 28, 2018

Sensei Domyo Burk maintains the highly respected Zen Studies Podcast.
Here are two, actually two parts of a single reflection on Zen and race in North America. Well worth the listen…
Western Zen Grows Up and Faces the Koan of Race, Part One and Part Two.
I highly recommend them and the podcast series…
Domyo Burk is one of the exciting new generation of Zen teachers in North America. She began Zen practice in 1996. She was ordained in the Soto tradition by (my dharma sister) Roshi Gyokuko Carlson in 2001. She trained principally at Dharma Rain Zen Center in Portland, Oregon, as well at Tassajara monastery and Great Vow monastery. In 2010, she received denkai and denbo, full Dharma transmission, from Gyokuko Roshi. She completed the Dharma Heritage ceremony with the Soto Zen Buddhist Association in 2012, and served on its governing board between 2007 and 2013. She is the author of the Idiot’s Guide to Zen Living. Domyo Sensei lives in Cedar Hills, Oregon, with her husband the radio personality John Burk, and where she serves at senior teacher and priest at Bright Way Zen.
