Toledo Zen Center

Toledo Zen Center September 7, 2011

Here’s a lovely snapshot of the Toledo Zen Center run by Boundless Way priests Karen & Jay Weik by Sweeping Zen’s Adam Tebbe. They’re doing some great work for the Dharma and community in Ohio. If you find yourself in their neighborhood you might want to stop by. Adam did, and here’s what he had to say about it…

“I was up in Toledo, Ohio this weekend to visit my sister and I stopped in at the Toledo Zen Center on Sunday for their 10:30 AM service. Located in a somewhat nondescript converted warehouse near a business district, I arrived at about quarter of ten and snapped a few photos of the front as I remembered the camera. Karen & Jay are both old Zen hands having worked with a number of teachers before they landed with us. If you get a chance ask ’em about it.

And they’re people of many talents.

Karen is a horse whisperer, in case you’re in need of one…

And Jay also teaches Jazz guitar at a local university. Here’s a small sample of that work, which in his hands I find to be a uniquely Western Zen expression. (The beard went, as I recall when he ordained. Although one never knows when a Zen priest will need a disguise…)
