Salaam Alaikum wa Rahmatullah

So I’m trying to eat less, to manage my intake and not eat a bunch of between meal meals. I’ve been twittering every single thing I eat. I don’t put down portions or calories because that’s just too organized for me, but I’ve been faithful in writing down everything. This evening, I made banana smoothies for everyone when Abdel Hamid and I returned from his Tae Kwon Do. Milk, frozen bananas, protein powder. Easy but substantial, all you need before bedtime.

Hubby is up watching TV and he wants to snack on something. He asks if I bought chips when I was on the way home. No. Peanuts? No. Can I make some popcorn? Well, YOU can make some, I say, but I’m not making anything. But I’m watching a movie. So? You’re on a diet so I have to suffer? Now, he can stand to lose a few pounds as well, and everyone knows eating in the late evening is a sure recipe for a) heartburn and b) fat deposits. But he still wants me to make him something and tries to guilt me into the kitchen. Nope, not gonna do it. I ended up taking the baby into the bedroom to get her to sleep so I don’t know if he went in there and got something. Well, I’m his wife, not his mommy, so I’m not going to police his eating habits.

And I’m not on a diet, anyway. Diets don’t work. I’m trying to alter my eating habits. For that matter, I’m trying to alter my whole lifestyle. If he wants to come along for the ride, fine. If not, well, he knows where the kitchen is.
