God at gunpoint

God at gunpoint.

These guys are using the bible to hold God hostage. They are using the bible to affirm their own ideas about God, then imposing these ideas on God. Their God is not free, but a god who does everything they believe and say.

Convenient and rampant. But catastrophic.

Oh my…This may be my favorite of everything you have done yet.

    So much truth here.

    Just…Wow!

    Amen…

Throughout every doctrinal problem I’ve had with a lot of christians, this has almost certainly been the centre of all of them.

They want to make God in their own image, conforming to their ideals, backing up their own prejudices and traditional or cultural beliefs.

It’s pretty sad to see really.

This is a true depiction of what many Christians do to God, using the Bible.

God is free. Free to save REAL sinners (regardless of how well they live up to the Christian faith, or not)

The Bible is God’s Word, that is true. But we ought never turn it into a lawnmower manual for living. It is a rescue, and love story for a world that desperately needs a Savior.

This is the kind of thing that tires me out…that mindset. I wonder how much we all push our idea of God on others? I’m pretty strong in my view of God, that he is love and this seems to really bother people as much as their judgement God bothers me…

Wow! Thou smote that nail squarely on the head! Bravo!

God created man in his own image and man returned the favor.

14 years ago today my son, Jacob, was shot and killed. I had to find a true connection with God and did find a lot of Hope and Faith.

    Brilliant cartoon, David !
That one guy who is standing infront of the guy with the bullhorn seems to be think, “Wait, what the heck are we doing?”

  • Mad =^..^= (AKA ccws)

Robert Price ‘The Bible Geek” has referred to the Bible as “This Paper Idol.” He’s right. Bibliolatry – treating the written word (graphos) as somehow more important than the living Word (logos) – is idolatry.

  • Lester

God is just whatever we imagine God to be. God fits our mold because we’re the one’s who create God.

That is not my view of God; it’s just an atheist/freethinkers viewpoint I’ve read somewhere.

  • Sam

And god is powerless to stop them.
