FREEBIE FRIDAY print Sophia “trapped”

Sophia “trapped” (drawing by nakedpastor)

Today I’m giving away a free fine art print of the highly popular Sophia “trapped”. I’ve given this away before, but it seems relevant today. If you want to go ahead and order a print now, just click here! The original is sold.

I’m giving this print away because of the incredible debate that is going on right now in the church and elsewhere around gender, women and sexuality. To read more about it, you can check out yesterday’s post that has some links you can follow. Sophia’s story is all about a young woman’s courageous struggle for freedom and independence. Her strongest captor has been religion, but she has broken away to find her own.

For your chance to win, all you have to do is:
1. leave a comment on this post. Anything… even just a “hi”. And you can be anonymous too if you want.
2. you must sign up for my newsletter

I SHIP ANYWHERE!

Sorry, but I won’t be responding to comments. Don’t take it personally. I appreciate every one of you. But my comments would mess up the draw. Plus I’m on vacation. Don’t be alarmed if your comment doesn’t appear right away. I will approve it at some point.

That’s it. Only one comment per person. It is a draw. So I will end entries at midnight tonight my time (Atlantic Time… an hour east of Eastern Time). I’ll draw the name tomorrow morning and announce it then.

Good luck! Tell your friends.

Remember, if you can order a print now by just clicking here

    Okay…that triggered my post-traumatic stress disorder symptoms…
If I win the draw, this will go where my Proverbs 31 wall hanging is currently placed.

  • Lisa Preece

    Hi. Very interesting picture!

  • Gary

Like this one David…and very appropriate considering our recent discussions.

This is a great print! I think my favorite is “Sophia Steadfast”. Will that print ever be a Freebie Friday giveaway? Please?

  • alisha

    Thought provoking print.

  • KatR

My favorite (if that is the right word). The best drawing you’ve ever done, in my opinion.

  • Nathan

    ok

  • Claire

Wow! Amazing that you have depicted what I have seen much of my Christian life. I have escaped from a heavy shepherding pentecostal church after 15 years and this was exactly how they expected the women to be. Im in Uk btw so I dont know if I can be the winner. :(

It amazes me that there are still so many churches clinging to misogyny for dear life…

  • http://sophiasavedbygrace.blogspot.com Sophia Grace

    I love this one!

    AMAZING!

  • Lori

Would love to own this one. It garnered lots of comments when I shared it on my page. Perfectly describes my experience with the church – and life.

  • Tracy Geivett

    Phenomenal. Breathtakingly phenomenal.

Sigh. In this day and age and the one institution that should be backing us is keeping us tied up and victimized.

  • Misti

You know I love your work and style…but I have got to say, this drawing pisses me off right to the Throne! It evokes such anger within me- it is one of those issues that I have personal experience with and I am still healing from. (btw…Pass me by in the draw…I just wanted to express myself :))

  • lestess

    Great giveaway!

  • Jenny

This one always hits me in the gut.

  • Wren

I have had days that felt like this.

  • Jacquie

Would it be wrong to say it’s a powerful drawing, David, but it would disturb me so much I wouldn’t be able to look at it on my wall :(

I’ll pass on this one but I wanted to tell you that it is the experience of many women and sadly it does seem to happen in many of the successful, growing, Pentecostal/Fundamental denominations.

I do hope that whoever is the winner of this piece of your art is able to relate to the work and display it to great effect.

  • http://Www.theologybird.wordpress.com Robyn

One of my favorites. Glad you’re offering it again.

Would make a great art piece for a church vestibule…

Nothing would tell people you were more serious about not taking the bible literally than this.

Count me into the fray. I love this work

  • Renny

This was the first “Sophia” drawing I ever saw. And one of the first posts I saw of the Naked Pastor. It made an indelible impression on me.

  • Seth

Good stuff! I sent a link to this image to my cousin on the day she was ordained. Her ordination cost her one of the ministries she was passionate about – happy and sad day.

  • Marci

    I love Sophia!

  • MVH

    Great!

  • Micha

This like a whole-train on the walls of kyriarchic religion. If “ship anywhere” means Argentina, too, I am game.

  • Lisa
