Canadian Thanksgiving, Jesus and Turkeys

canadian thanksgiving jesus and turkeys cartoon drawing by nakedpastor david hayward

It’s Canadian Thanksgiving today.

I want to thank everyone who gave me birthday wishes yesterday. I was overwhelmed with emails and comments and facebook notifications and tweets and phone calls, etc., etc., and I’m overwhelmed today with the feeling of friendship.

That’s something to be thankful for!

(I’m doing a one hour webinar tomorrow night with my friend Nick on “Is Spiritual Independence Okay?”. Read more and register here.)

    Happy Belated Birthday.

If the turkeys had a great life, and if we thank them for giving their nourishment to us, then I think for this in-between time it’s OK. Still, appreciate the sentiment though xxx

    I wish I could be a vegetarian

As a vegan, I really appreciate the thought behind this cartoon (and I’m sure the turkeys do, too!).

‘It ill becomes us to invoke in our daily prayers the blessings of God, the Compassionate, if we in turn will not practice elementary compassion towards our fellow creatures.’
    Ah, Gandhi. What a dude.

(Please can we have more cartoons involving compassion towards animals, David!)

There are a lot of ‘human turkeys’ (of which I am one) that Jesus weeps for.

And more than weep, he let those same turkeys nail him to a cross, that those turkeys could be restored to a right relationship with Himself.

    What a God!
