This is just this baby’s first coming out. There will be a lot more to come.

If we have enough courage, we will all come out many, many times.

If we have enough conviction to be true, we will come out often.

I’m sure many of you have already come out in one way or another more than once.

Maybe you came out as an atheist. Or as a believer. Or as a socialist. Or as a Republican. Or as transgender. Or as an artist. Or as a monk.

Come out! Make it your way of life.

Many UNSCHOOLERS are “coming out” too. It’s sad that so many are against the freedom of children learning the way God intended them to learn that these families have to keep it a secret. I love it when a fellow unschooler says “I’m coming out!”. :)

I had never heard of “unschooling”, so I googled it. What a wonderful idea!

The difference between a teacher and an educator is that a teacher teaches the students WHAT to think and the educator also teaches the students HOW to think, which means the educator can’t fake knowing his/her subject.

I think our educational system has become so “dumbed-down” because we created a job market of “degree’d” elites. More and more people started to attend public and private “institutions of higher education” for the earning rather than the learning and that became the mass market for Academia in the U.S.

I have met so many people who are “degree’d” but, except for one narrow specialized field, ignorant of so much of what used to be the mark of an “educated” person. The Great Books program at St. John’s College in Annapolis, MD and Santa Fe, NM represents the best of what a solid education in the humanities used to represent much more widely.

I didn’t attend St. John’s as a student; but I took advantage of a lot of the free or reasonably priced seminars, lectures and foreign film showings that they offered as a community outreach program.

50 some former Missionary Kids now any where from 20′s to 70′s “came out”. We are survivors of childhood abuse that missions have been covering up for years. We have come out we will no longer be silent. We will have a voice. We are not Alone.

I “came out” spiritually about 15 years ago. I removed the blinders of religion and found my authentic self hidden deepl beneath an opressive list of expectations. I was rejected by friends and family members who said I was” lost” and at risk of eternal fire…yet I had never been more ‘found” Yep…at 40 years old I was found not wanting for anything !! And surprise !! there was God standing right Inside of me on the corner of 1′st and Amestad!! I link this to the topic of educational coming out…because the abuse” of cult brainwashing does not just confine itself to the church. I have seen a mixed bag of “educational ” agendas..I ‘m in grad school now, and I’m learning how to really learn…and go beyond what is status quo, accepted thought… To chew up and spit out any of the cud that distracts me from my truth. It is paramount to education that one leave out their predujdice, but it is almost imposssible. Those who are “open” are bashed and hated by those who are closed, and those who are “closed” are hated by the “enlightened” ones !! in a loop of continual reverse descrinination. Those who are on the right are pushing hard on their agenda and making those on the left out to be the basard child. the only way to get out of this web is to keep a critical eye on ones own motivations, and tell the ego to flee… cause if you think everyone else is wrong, then you ain’t learned nothin’ kid !!
