the trinity and pillow talk

the trinity pillow talks cartoon by nakedpastor david hayward

“The Trinity Pillow Talks” (click on image to shop for a print of it)

This cartoon is wrong on so many leves…

God, the Trinity, can’t be seen, and if he could be he certainly wouldn’t look like that!

God neither slumbers nor sleeps.

God doesn’t “go” to church.

God knows he wouldn’t necessarily be missed because he understands that an institution may linger without the spirit of its founder for centuries.

But this cartoon is right on so many levels…

It makes me laugh (yes, I laugh at my own jokes).

I hope it makes you laugh today too. Laughing is good.

Gives a new meaning to “Three-in-One” I guess… How did you decide what order to put them in? What is the theology of representing the Trinity pictorially? There is a tradition… You have added to that tradition now… All thoughts that are grist for the theological mill this Sunday morning. Thank you for your sharing your spiritual gift.

I really like this one…and the commentary that accompanies it.

“God knows he wouldn’t necessarily be missed because he understands that
an institution may linger without the spirit of its founder for
    centuries.”

    Too true!

    When people say : I didn’t see you in church today “,, I reply: ” Because I wasn’t there “. Smart alec? ….no……..just telling the truth………………….

God is where His Word and sacraments are. (and where there are people who believe it)

If that is in the mall..then He is there.

If that happens at church…then He is there.

How about this for an answer.
“Probably not, nobody acknowledges us there anyway.”

Yes, David, your cartoon made me laugh. I didn’t go to church today, either. Will the people there miss us? Me, maybe, but the Trinity will be there in the people gathered for worship.

I think it is so right! It shows God at rest, enjoying Themselves rather than the hand wringing Christian’s so often think’s happening. Makes me laugh LOL!

Nothing wrong with going to church just as much as there’s nothing wrong with staying home from church. If you feel you need to be surrounded by fellow believers or to hear the Word of God spoken by someone who has been educated IN the Word, than, by all MEANS, go to church! I LOVE my church family. But, there are days that I just don’t feel like going. And, on those days, I stay home. God Loves Me no matter where I’m at! And I’m good with that!

I got a lot out of the service at church today. So GLAD the Lord prompted me to go.
