another surprise on the last day

every knee will bow cartoon by nakedpastor david hayward

“Every Knee Will Bow” (drawing by nakedpastor David Hayward)

Who doesn’t like to have fun and laugh once in a while? But, of course, what makes me laugh might not make you. But I got a chuckle out of this idea so I thought I’d share it with you. Did it work?

I remember a while ago doing a cartoon called Reverse Rapture that some people got a laugh out of. Last day humor.

If I can make some people laugh or at least smile and perhaps cheer up their day a bit, then I feel I’ve accomplished something.

Consider this: Even though we can be serious, we have a LOT of fun in our online community, The Lasting Supper. I extend a warm invitation for you to come and join us.

About David Hayward

David Hayward runs the blog nakedpastor as a graffiti artist on the walls of religion where he critiques religion… specifically Christianity and the church. He also runs the online community The Lasting Supper where people can help themselves discover, explore and live in spiritual freedom.

    Holy Homonym! Good one, David!!!

Speaking of the Rapture, this was my take (that it actually did happen) on the 5/21/2011 Rapture that received some publicity back then :).

I must say that the End Time frightens me due to all the contradictory morally offensive teaching I have found.

As a fundamentalist German Lutheran pastor explained it to me, this will be a genocide far worse than the Holocaust.

I clearly don’t believe in the same God and would rather die than serving the genocidal being they call “god”.

But I don’t hate those folks but want them to give up their theology and begin worshiping the true God who is perfectly moral and loving by the definition of His very nature,

    Lovely greetings from Europe.

Well, this certainly offers a different meaning for the Bow suits in a tarot deck.

  • Mark

    I like it! Thanks!

  • Tom Estes

    Yea, mocking the Bible. Hilarious.

  • Cecilia Davidson

^ Someone needs to take a stick out of their ass

  • Tom Estes

    That was Christian.

Some people just don’t like Biblical truths being mocked. I’m one of them.

  • Cecilia Davidson

It takes a sense of humor to get through life. It’s nice to know that you’re one of the people who refuse to have one about their own beliefs.

  • Tom Estes

That’s because mocking my beliefs = mocking my God.

  • http://triangulations.wordpress.com/ Sabio Lantz

Wow, Tom! So nicely said. A perfect summation of a horrible belief.

  • Tom Estes

Not sure if that was a compliment or a critique, or some combination of the two.

  • Cecilia Davidson

It’s meant to be a damnation of your beliefs.

  • http://triangulations.wordpress.com/ Sabio Lantz

    @ Cecilia:

Here we are again with vagueness about who is talking about who.

Anyway, my statement was not “meant to be a damnation of [Tom's] beliefs.“. But instead, a condemnation of one belief — I don’t know about all his beliefs, nor how he uses them. Thus my most recent posts on my blog.

So please don’t speak for me (if you were at all). But maybe you weren’t and this is just those damn hierarchy issues. The hierarchy ends at three deep so you can’t tell who is talking to whom without an “@” symbol or some such thing.

  • Cecilia Davidson

it was a wrongful assumption and wording but a correct remark.
Tom’s statements here are actually far more consistent with one who tries to stir up trouble. He’s a troll – not a Christian who is actually offended.
At this point, I am going to apologize to YOU but I’ve already asked that action be taken.

  • http://triangulations.wordpress.com/ Sabio Lantz

    @ Cecilia,
Sorry, I didn’t quite follow that.

    (1) You mean you should have said: “I think you beliefs are damnable, Tom”?

    (2) David is trying to stir up trouble, don’t you think? Graffiti is nothing but trouble. David is a trouble maker. We should praise Krishna for trouble makers! Why is it wrong for Tom to do it? Isn’t it more important how we/you respond to him?

    (3) Did you say he is not a Christian? If so, I think you are horribly wrong and merely trying to stir up trouble.

    (4) What “actions” have you asked be taken? And who did you ask?

  • Cecilia Davidson

    (1) Actually, i really mean that your counter does damn (to vehemently condemn) his beliefs, specifically those which are very un-christlike.
    (2) David does so in a more kind and thought-provoking manner – Tom is a troll hoping for negative reactions
    (3) I do not think I am horribly wrong if I have to call a spade a spade.
    (4) Are you actually trying to trap me with this remark?

Enough. The central comment that Tom makes completely misses the mark and betrays a sad state of his own beliefs – primarily that his beliefs and sensitivities can be shaken by a mere joke.

  • http://triangulations.wordpress.com/ Sabio Lantz

    @Cecilia,

We agree that Tom’s thoughts on Hell are horrible.

  • Gary

If you are so sensitive that you can’t even laugh at a clear joke (or even allow others to) then I suggest that you take your fucking ass out of here and run back home and hide behind your momma’s skirt.

  • Gary

Unbelievable. If we mock your god it is only because the god in your head is an imaginary product of your limited understanding and beliefs and in no way tied to any reality.
