When you copulate certainty that we do not know with questioning what we do, that produces a powerful space for deep transformation and wisdom.

The exclamation invites questions to enter her life. The question is firm about things that matter, like love.

I think they will have beautiful children.

Come join The Lasting Supper where questions are our main mode of communication.

UPDATE: Little did I know that I had unintentionally played with the already existing idea of the “interrobang”, a combination of the question mark with the exclamation mark. Cool!

    David,

Many Christians want you to come back to orthodoxy and declare yourself a “real” Christian. Many Atheists want you to admit you are really an Atheist. But me, if “Tantrist” wasn’t so wrongly understood in the West, I’d want you to admit you are a Tantrist. Instead, I am still OK with always thinking of you as a wonderful, perverse graffiti artist!

    Nicely done

I don’t think you realized the pun you made along the lines of “Interrobang.” If you did, then you made a dad joke :p

I think David is merely finding a way to have the “exclamation point” part of our psyche as a good thing if it is directed towards “being sure that we don’t know everything” and the “question mark” part of our psyche (that he has long championed) as still being good when it is directed towards those things that we do claim to know… A celebration of agnosticism?

    Hey Jeff P,
Are you familiar with the “tantra” of which I speak?

  • http://triangulations.wordpress.com/ Sabio Lantz

“Tantra” is often understood in the West as sexual practices to gain enlightenment. That is as mistaken as thinking about “Yoga” as stretching exercises. Though, of course, after enough twisting, both those now have those meanings in their baskets of meaning.

But the way I use the word, as clipped from other sources is:

“Tantric Buddhism employs the urgent energies of agony and ecstasy, lust and hatred, paranoia and greed to transform our confusion into enlightenment.

Tantra is radically positive insanity. Tantra is the hot blood of kindness. Tantra conjures with the electricity of being: the shimmering voltage that crackles ecstatically between emptiness and form. Tantra is the alchemy of transformation by which we re-create ourselves limitlessly according to the kaleidoscopic pattern of moments that comprises our experience.”

Hope that helps and you can see how I see David’s various approaches matching this much more than the labels of Christian or Atheist.

Sabio, I wasn’t familiar with the term but thanks for enlightening me on it. It is good to crawl out of my box every now and then. :)
