Contribute to the Mission of CUUPS

The CUUPS nominations committee invites nominations (including self-nominations) for the following board positions:

• Treasurer: Works with board to develop budget. Works with ED to track cash flow. Tracks bank and paypal accounts. Issues checks or payments as needed.
• Vice-president for Development: The Vice-President for Development is responsible for securing funding. This ranges from writing grants to crowdsourcing appeals and includes special events.
• Board member for Curriculum and Liturgy Portfolio: Links and nurtures Pagan and Earth-Relating UUs who are developing curriculum and liturgy, to make those resources available to membership.
• Two at-large Board positions: At-large board members support the work of the other board members and portfolios and organize special projects.

All board members are responsible to: (1) attend 12 board meetings per year [second Tuesday of the month at 6 pm Pacific Time for ~1.5 hrs, on video call with simultaneous Google doc] (2) be in relationship with committee members for your area/portfolio (3) attend General Assembly annually to staff CUUPS table, if at all possible (financial help is available as needed). Board members can expect to spend approximately 10 hours per month on CUUPS business.

In addition to these elected board positions, the following teams/portfolios are in need of additional team members:

• Communications: Communications supervises the web site, consults on social media, and works with the membership chair to develop our visual and written identity. This portfolio includes maintaining connections to our sibling organizations such as Lady Liberty League and Parliament of World Religions.
• Membership: Membership supervises member and chapter tracking, reaches out to new members and maintains a relationship with our current members. Our membership includes individuals and chapters and will include institutions
• Curriculum and Liturgy (see above)

Also an elected, one position available:

• Nominations: Compiles list of nominees for annual vote.

Reminder of CUUPS mission and vision and goals:

The job of our chapters and CUUPS Continental is to encourage individuals to be the best UU Pagans they can be and to provide resources to help them do so. CUUPS chapters and CUUPS Continental serve our members, the Pagan community, and the UU community.

1. We give people a community of interest to belong to – we create a shared identity and shared commitment.  Our mission and vision statements form our foundation, and our internet site (currently CUUPS.org) is our storehouse of information and resources.  We support our shared identity and shared commitment through our social media outlets, our newsletter, our podcast, and our blog.
2. The CUUPS Board of Trustees coordinates the work of our Librarians and Curators.   They facilitate dialogue within UU Paganism, they network and dialogue with other Pagan organizations, and they identify and share best practices – they show us what’s possible.  They look for ways to encourage deeper spiritual practice, to encourage more social and environmental action, and to facilitate events for participation and growth.  They promote and advertise CUUPS – they make sure people who want what we offer know we’re here.
3. We cover four main areas of interest.
   • Information for beginners:  the basics of Paganism, the basics of Unitarian Universalism, and the basics of CUUPS.
   • Practices to facilitate spiritual growth and to draw us into deeper community:  regular spiritual practice techniques, rituals for individuals and groups, ideas for experiencing, honoring, and relating to Nature, and ideas for experiencing, honoring, and relating to gods and spirits.
   • Guidelines for chapter operations:  forming a chapter, right relationships with host congregations and other institutions, and basic leadership skills.
   • Social justice:  supporting UU values and causes, and supporting Pagan values and causes.
