National Pagan Day of Prayer

Today is the National Day of Prayer, and I hope you’ll join me and add your prayers for our country.

Oh Libertas! Oh Columbia!
Sweet Lady Liberty,
gracious hospitable Queen
raising your torch by that solemn door.

Embrace us, guide us,
show us the bright path
where all may pray, all worship, all sing.
The path where you may dance for the Gods
or walk in the silent surety of science.

Teach us about freedom,
that uncomfortable gift,
not reserved for a few, for a select elite,
but a blessing showered upon all.
In our Capitol the praises of a thousand Gods ring
as well as the sonnets to science, and more limited prayers.

Bless this nation, founded on the most Pagan of virtues:
Democracy, Freedom, Justice, Tolerance.
Give us the strength to stand as One even though we are Many.
Grant our leaders the wisdom to respect our Diversity.
Help our nation to live up to the ideal of Equality.

Oh Goddess, may your torch shine on those downtrodden
so that we may always be aware of those in need of justice
and we may always know our sacred duty to ensure
all have Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness!

So Mote It Be!
