N. T. Wright Meme (The Most Interesting New Testament Theologian in the World?)

Someone mentioned an “N. T. Wright” meme, and while they meant a quote from him superimposed on a photo of him teaching, I confess that the first thing that popped into my head when I saw the title of the post looked more like this:

As you think about theologians you’d like to see on trading cards, and mention them on my earlier post as entries in the Theologian Trading Cards giveaway, why not think about quotes from them you’d like to see featured on trading cards, or on meme images, or both?

Or to put it another way, who is the most interesting theologian/NT scholar/Hebrew Bible scholar in the world, and what does/would she or he say?

UPDATE: A commenter complained that the font I used didn’t look “memeish” enough, and so I wonder whether something like this would be closer to the mark?

"Your ideas here remind me of Aristotle. In book 7 of the Physics, Aristotle analyzes ..."

"Thanks for this engaging discussion. I think it is absolutely clear that there are invented ..."

New Age Translation of the Lord’s ..."
"That's why I like bouncing ideas off you. It's like playing chess against the computer ..."

New Age Translation of the Lord’s ..."
"Certainly, there is good reason to conclude that Jesus had some gifted storytellers write about ..."

Because I’m procrastinating on my sermon, I present to you MemeBorg:

  • T. Webb

But they need to change the font so it’s more like the other “meme” pics. That way you can tell immediately it’s a “meme’.

Who is “they”? Did you mean me?

OK, I added an additional image. Better? 😉

I always wondered who “they” was… now I know.

  • Evan Hershman

“I don’t always make my own New Testament translation, but when I do I deliberately distort the Greek to support my homophobic agenda.”

(I’m not a fan of Wright, in case you were wondering.)

  • Russ

“I don’t always say every other New Testament scholar is wrong…

    Wait, yes I do.”

    “I don’t always read John Piper’s criticisms, but when I do….

it makes me laugh so hard I wet my trousers.”

Are you suggesting that N.T. Wright is high or something when he reads the New Testament? Because that was my reaction with N(ot). T(otally). Wright as well.
