God’s Not In Her Heaven. All’s Not Right With the World

God’s Not In Her Heaven. All’s Not Right With the World November 10, 2016

There are gods on thrones this week.

The gods of White Supremacist Capitalist CisHeterosexist Patriarchy are sitting pretty, on their thrones of gold. These idols, who think they are omnipotent:

“Hey, when you’re a star they let you do it. You can do anything. Grab them by the pussy. You can do anything.”

The U.S.A. has elected their own white Jesus, a man proclaiming himself to be god. They’ve put him on a throne.

My God, though? She thinks thrones are oppressive bullshit. She takes after Her Mother in that way:

He has brought down rulers from their thrones,
And has exalted those who were humble.
He has filled the hungry with good things;
And sent away the rich empty-handed.

Where is God this week?

Isolated, alone, weeping in the garden for the friends who betrayed him with a kiss, and for the friends who could not even stay awake and pray for one hour.

Understanding exactly what it feels like to know that your parents voted for a sexual abuser. Understanding the frustration of those whose friends are already saying, “Relax! It won’t be that bad,” before returning to their safe and privileged lives.

Wondering, through his tears who will still be on his side when the cock crows.

Where is God this week?

God is Sophia Wisdom. She’s taking to the streets, She’s got a sign that reads “I Can’t Believe I Still Have To Protest This Shit” and a shirt that says “BLACK LIVES MATTER.” She’s a queer af angry bitch who is is mad as hell and not going to take it anymore:

Does not Wisdom call,
and does not Understanding raise Her voice?
On the heights, beside the way,
at the crossroads She takes Her stand;
beside the gates in front of the town,
at the entrance of the portals She cries out:
“To you, O people, I call,
and My cry is to all that live.”

Where is God this week?

They’re in a tomb. They’ve been murdered by state violence, while the “good cops” washed their hands of responsibility. Their body was left for hours to rot on a cross as a warning. Their only crime: “This person thought Their life mattered.”

Where is God this week?

My God is not on a throne, in solidarity with those who practice power over. My God is in solidarity with those suffering. She is mourning, She is resisting, She is surviving, She is dead.

She will rise UP again.
