I knew it.

In 9-year-old son’s  handwriting, hanging on the wall:

Do we have the same son?

Was it a lesson on “No apostrophe in a plural noun”?

Not home schooled = not my problem.

  • Devra

Ohhh, that must be a nice feeling!

That’s the thing about homeschooling: I feel personally responsible for my children’s spelling and grammar mistakes. And they are legion.

Yep, I actually thought long and hard about whether to white out that apostrophe before scanning in the paper. But then I thought, screw it – that’s what the kid wrote. It’s my version of serving my kids junk food from time to time: no, I wasn’t raised that way, but I’ve come to realize that it won’t kill anyone, either.

No don’t do that. My nine year old would have written the same thing if he knew what an apostrophe was.

      • Jeni

if he was 29 I’d worry about whiting out the apostrophe. age 9 and it looks authentic. What was it in response to exactly?

    • Thomas

I kind of like this little apostrophe grammar lesson from The Oatmeal: http://theoatmeal.com/comics/apostrophe

  • Johanna

Hey, he spelled all of the words correctly didn’t he?

Hysterical! The comments are cracking me up too!
