Compline; Wednesday Night Prayer

It has been such a stressful, ugly day today, I took a few minutes to record the podcast earlier.

By the way – a very nice way to pray along with any of these podcasts, is with the recording going on in the background and this page opened.

I’m feeling a bit punk, so it’s unlikely I’ll be doing morning prayer.

An ugly day indeed. The spiritual battle is raging wildly and the spirit of discouragement & dispair is very active right now. I felt it as well. Thanks for the good words of the Good News. It’s essential armour for days like this….important to remember to “not leave home (or anywhere) without it”! :D

“Keep us safe, Lord, while we are awake, and guard us as we sleep, so that we can keep watch with Christ and rest in peace.”
Compline is my favorite of the hours. Don’t get me wrong, I do have faith, but this canticle embraces me with the loving assurance that God does keep me safe while I am awake, and guards me as I sleep. I have nothing to fear in His loving embrace. I have lived its proof.

It would have been an ugly day save I listened to your lovely and oh-so-soothing voice several times yesterday and surrendered an awful day to the Lord and it got a whole lot better as a result.

Feel better beloved friend. And blueteapot is absolutely right! And if you start the day with Mystic Monk coffee, it’s even better.

I will do a prayer for you.

Dear God. Thank you for the late afternoon sun yesterday. The clouds just screened the sun enough so you could see it without squinting too badly. It was low on the horizon so it looked giant. The clouds gave it a red glow. It was just beautiful.

I know the science behind this. Obviously you do too. But the just breathtaking beauty of the sun yesterday was awesome. And a complete surprise.

It is a soft gray day this morning. And I look forward to the pleasant surprises that may come.
