Cancun, Rationing, Blustery Day Linkfest!

It is so incredibly blustery out there, today! But I like rain and wind!

Dew and rain, bless the Lord.
Frost and chill, bless the Lord.
Ice and snow, bless the Lord.
Nights and days, bless the Lord.
Light and darkness, bless the Lord.
Lightnings and clouds, bless the Lord.
– Daniel 3: 68-73

Hum, dum, dum…let’s linkaround!

Remember yesterday I wrote about the Cancun Climate and their dumb ideas about rationing? Allahpundit picks up the story, and provides video.

As my husband noted last night, it’s funny how these folks never seem to go to Minnesota or Ohio for their important funfest conferences.

Yes, Benedict spoke about Julian of Norwich…the original Anchoress!

    from the article…

He explained that “anchoresses,” or recluses, dedicated themselves to prayer, meditation and study within their cells.

“In this way they came to acquire a very delicate human and religious sensibility which led to their being venerated by the people,” the Pope explained, adding that “and men and women of all ages and conditions, in need of counsel and comfort, devotedly sought them out.”

Sounds like the pope reads your blog too!

Ack! Anchoress!! I flipped open the Monastery Greetings catalog last night and found St. Julian of Norwich. I was so intrigued by the fact that she is portrayed with a cat. I know very very little about her. I then spied the book all about her. Seeing that the Pope featured her today just blew me away. She is reaching out through the veil of time and space and place to meet me! I’m so excited. Now I have to buy that book! Of all your links, I chose that one first. Wow. How the Communion of Saints works!

I’ll say it again: if everyone only knew how exciting it is to be Catholic, the lines for Baptism would be winding around the streets and the priests would drop from exhaustion.

    Thanks for posting this!

Well done and thanks for the links.

Agreed, well said, and yet I personally do not want to give up on considering either for the GOP Nomination for 2012 – just in another year and a half. Of course, I do think it is important to address some of the hype and, on the side in regards to Mr. Romney – some of the ugly banter (all in the name of fashion). Romney is still a hero of the Free Market, the most proven CEO in the Private Sector I can remember in Our contemporary Era – vilifying him, or denying his potential for the POTUS offering is a mistake I feel. But then there are many who look pretty good, outside of the big names – Pawlenty, Daniels, Christie, Barbour etc., the GOP might just offer some really impressive Candidates to be worthy. We shall see. But if only we could have a little brevity over the hype.

Anyhow, THREE CHEERS To Special Report for their AIDS DAY Coverage – focusing on the Bush Administration success (which included Bono). If you missed it, it is really worthwhile. Miss this great President GW.

On another note, to beat a broken drum further – for me this below – is even more reason why Hillary Clinton needs to go, and many should be encouraging a “RESET” in the US STATE Department. These Leaks are so revealing:
“Russia is a corrupt, autocratic kleptocracy centred on the leadership of Vladimir Putin, in which officials, oligarchs and organised crime are bound together to create a “virtual mafia state”, according to leaked secret diplomatic cables that provide a damning American assessment of its erstwhile rival superpower.”

If one believes Russia is this corrupt, then you don’t abandon Poland, the Czech Republic, etc., to placate some rogue criminal State – which is NOT going to produce anything and weaken US Security. Nor do you treat Israel, Great Britain, etc., like the plague, while you placate a “Mafia” State. The State Department isn’t saying Russia can be trusted and could be helpful – they are saying the opposite, which makes Secretary Clinton’s past two year effort in regards to Russia even more absurd.

Russian relations never needed a joke of a ‘reset’ – which was intended mostly for Domestic Political consumption, further sticking it to the Republicans with boasts of this disastrous “Smart Power”. The LEAKS do not confirm a tough State Department (which some Conservatives have generically assumed), they do confirm an out of control, overreaching, completely misguided offering – which has made a huge MESS.

And the only way the Obama Administration, the USA, etc., can move on in some practical beginning in restoring some credibility in the Global Community, is to remove the Secretary of State. To “RESET” the face of the USA – the Executive Branch’s diplomatic ARM in the World. Image is essential, especially in diplomacy, and although Mr. Obama is probably not strong enough to seek Hillary’s removal – it would be the best for all.

    The Anchoress: Those Commie Republicans!

Hardly communist, but certainly obstructionist. Minority Republicans have promised to block all votes in the Senate until the Bush tax cuts are extended, even though the Administration supports extending the tax cuts for all but the richest 2% of Americans. Issues still up for a vote include the START Treaty which allows the U.S. to monitor Russian nuclear missiles, which is not only of paramount importance in itself, but is essential for progress on a range of international issues.
