Pornography is Listed as a Gateway to Demonic Possession April 14, 2015

crucifix_and_st_benedict_medalA fascinating article at Women of Grace announces a conference underway in Rome to clarify topics related to the occult and its spiritual dangers. With a huge rise in demonic possessions worldwide, trained exorcists are being assigned in larger and larger numbers in dioceses around the globe.

Along with an increased interest in practicing the “dark arts” and reading occult-themed literature, among the most spiritually dangerous practices being discussed is pornography. The scourge of the internet, pornographic addiction now impacts a huge percentage of men–and many women and children. This report from Covenant Eyes is a real eye-opener.

Because God is totally pure, if we want to live in his light, we have to seek purity ourselves. The sacrament of reconciliation is essential, but we also need to practice what the Church calls “custody of the eyes,” since the ubiquitous media pumps its obscenities into our phones and homes 24/7.

It’s important to understand that the Church promotes a healthy sexuality for all people that is chaste, sacramental, and rich in dignity. The chapter of the Catechism of the Catholic Church that deals with the Ninth Commandment is packed with great insights. Here’s a sample:

2521    Purity requires modesty, an integral part of temperance. Modesty protects the intimate center of the person. It means refusing to unveil what should remain hidden. It is ordered to chastity to whose sensitivity it bears witness. It guides how one looks at others and behaves toward them in conformity with the dignity of persons and their solidarity.

If, like most people, you have struggles in this area, ask the Blessed Mother for help by praying the Holy Rosary, and make St. Joseph the patron of your home. Here’s a terrific prayer for growing in holy purity.

May our most pure and holy God bless and protect your family now and always. Amen. +
