The Fig Harvest Begins!

‎And Amos answered and said to Amasias:”I am not a prophet, nor am I the son of a prophet: but I am a herdsman plucking wild figs.”

Ok, so they’re cultivated in my case. Either way, here at Casa del Weathers, it’s harvest time! The storm damaged baby tree (5 years old) came through in a big way. God is good!

And every man shall sit under his vine, and under his fig tree, and there shall be none to make them afraid: for the mouth of the Lord of hosts hath spoken. —Micah 4:4They turn into really good jam too!

I LOVE Figs!!! Sadly, my fig tree succumbed to the extreme heat and drought this summer. That's okay…I'm planting a new one in the spring!

Angela, you might just try watering the "dead" tree and see if new life springs up from the roots. It's late in the season, but at least you'll know if it still lives for next Spring. Our tree was "killed" early after we planted it when a late frost hit the first year right after new growth had emerged. All the evidence was that the tree was dead, and the original trunk was. But new shoots, etc., emerged from the root ball and now the tree is 10 feet high.
