With the non-stop chest cough it’s like I’ve been doing crunches for two straight days. My abs are so sore and they scream for mercy with every cough. Yesterday the fever peaked at 101 (my normal body temp is around 97.2). If I don’t start feeling better today I’m going to go to a doctor. Sorry for all the down time, but I’m back to the couch of healing today. Read more
Second verse, same as the first. Yesterday the fever peaked at 102. Let’s see what today has in store. I’m coughing so much that I’m starting to feel it pounding in my head each time. No fun. On the bright side, constantly doing this hacking chest cough, though it’s tearing my esophagus to shreds, has got to be the greatest ab workout I’ve ever had. Really feeling it. Also, Monday I went back to the gym. Part of my regiment... Read more
Biblical prophecy keeps rearing its ugly head. It’s defiant to the end. I’ve addressed this before, but I have an ongoing interest in analyzing the topic – why do we atheists not find it compelling? Why do Christians? Maybe if I could explain it more succinctly, or more clearly get to the root of the problem, they’ll snap out of it? (Probably not) I’ve decided to analyze specific prophetic claims, and see what they have to say. (more…) Read more

Phil Bryant signed House Bill 1523 on Tuesday, despite opposition from gay-rights groups and some businesses. Some conservative and religious groups support the bill. The measure’s intention is to protect those who believe that marriage should be between one man and one woman, that sexual relations should only take place inside such marriages,... Read more
Paypal continues the, shall I say, exodus (tee hee) of businesses fleeing North Carolina in the wake of their recently passed law that allows for discrimination against LGBT people: PayPal on Tuesday announced that it has withdrawn plans to open an operations center in Charlotte, North Carolina, in reaction to the state’s new law that overturns local protections for LGBT individuals and limits employees’ ability to sue over workplace discrimination. “Two weeks ago, PayPal announced plans to open a new... Well this is cool. In Australia most people want to nix the religious tax exemption: Nearly two-thirds of voters oppose the religious tax exemption, while just 24% support it. The strongest opposition, unexpectedly, comes from older voters: 73% of over-55s oppose the exemption. Meh, I’ve often said that the tax exemption is the price of religions staying out of the government. However, they’ve shown they won’t do that, so fuck it — let ’em contribute and stop leaching off the... Read more
Ken Ham wrote a blog about a British preacher who, after trying to convince prisoners that homosexuality is evil, was barred from the prison. Somehow Ham thought that preachers should just be able to waltz into prisons to preach whenever they wish. But it led Ham to ask the obvious next question: “And really, the authorities are saying the Bible itself is not suitable for people! How long before it will be outlawed?” How could a book that requires you... Read more
