Above and Beyond Your Sacred Stories

Above and Beyond Your Sacred Stories October 21, 2018

When I met the Rev. Patricia Cagganello online when interviewing one of her clients on my show and was introduced to Sacred Stories,  I thought she was special. Then, when I found out she was ordained from One Spirit Interfaith Seminary in New York and earned her Masters of Arts in Education and her Bachelors of Science in Business, I knew she was special and wanted to learn more about her.

So, I invited her to be my guest on my Video Podcast The Kat Kanavos Show. And now I share this sacred amazing person with you.

What is Sacred Stories and how can it be of service to you? It is an online media network designed to create empowering and supportive platforms to allow the spiritual voices of today to be heard. The CEO of this amazing platform is the Rev. Patricia Cagganello.

She is also a publisher whose company Sacred Stories Publishing does Professional Self-Publishing, Hybrid Publishing, and Conventional Publishing, marketing, and publicity for all its authors, and previously published authors seeking publicity for their work. It also does online telesummit series, podcasting, an On-Air video series, The Owl magazine, and online education in the form of Sacred U.

But, here is something really special I bet you would never guess in a million years about my guest. The Rev. Patricia worked in the corporate and educational worlds for many years… and proudly served six years as a sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps.

 Oorah and Sempafi!

As a Green Beret Army Brat, once I learned that I simply had to interview her.

According to Rev Patricia, “Our mission is to bring enlightening and empowering Divine Voices to our world. Our books are grounded in higher consciousness and include inspirational, spiritual, religious, channeled works, new age, metaphysical, personal journeys, memoirs, new thought, natural/alternative health and healing, self-help, and messages that are helpful to the world.”

On a more personal note she is a single mom of two daughters in college, and an obsessive coffee drinker – (love her already!) Rev. Patricia drinks it black like any good former Marine does, and is the best friend of her little dog Bear.

She says, “I have learned the power and resonance of our shared experiences.”

Sacred Stories Publishing is an award-winning and best-selling full-service book publishing and marketing company for authors who want to bring their Divine Voice to the world in a bigger way. They also offer online courses at Sacred U and published articles in The Owl magazine.

During the interview, I asked Rev Patricia the following questions about publishing. You can see her answers in detail on the video podcast.

Kat: So what is Professional Self-Publishing?

Rev Patricia: Unless you know all the ins-and-outs of publishing because you have done it many times you are going to be much like a babe-in-the-woods because you must find your own quality editors, both copy and content, you must find your own graphic designer, printer, …the list goes on and on, AND you must upload the completed product onto Amazon and hope you do not make a mistake because trying to correct it is next to impossible. It is easy to be taken advantage of with self-publishing by wolves in those woods. With Professional Self-Publishing you get professional assistance, if and when you need it, from a publisher who knows what they are doing.  You get to keep your copyright and have complete control over your content, book length, and pricing.  Professional self-publishing is a safety net for someone who wants to be self-published.

Kat: What do you mean when you speak of Hybrid Publishing? I’ve always thought of that as the middle ground between traditional and self-publishing.

Rev. Patricia: Yes, this is where the author and the publisher go into financial partnership to publish a book. It has become very popular because the author uses the publisher’s tried-and-true editors, graphic designers, printers, has it professionally uploaded onto Amazon, and the author keeps their copyright.  It is the middle ground between traditional and self-publishing which may or may not include marketing and distribution. Sacred Stories Publishing does offer extensive marketing packages.

Kat: How does Full Conventional Publishing differ from the two types of publishing described above?

Rev. Patricia: In Conventional Publishing the publisher carries all the forward costs of production and pays the author royalties on their book sales, and the author seldom gets to keep their copyright which is often stipulated in the publishing contract. And the publisher makes all the design, book length, and price point decisions.

Authors should know the differences between these three different avenues of publishing.

This is important because if you are a successful business person with an established brand and a large following, you may not want to be Conventionally Published because it would mean giving up your copyright that may be connected to your brand. You may also not want to give up control over the editing, length of your book, and sales price. It may be far more beneficial for you to be Hybrid Published or Professionally Self Published because you have an established business platform.

A Self Published or Hybrid Published book can still become an Amazon and New York Times Bestseller. How it is published has nothing to do with sales or success. Amazon Bestsellers and New Times Bestsellers are all about how many books are sold, not who published the book.

Learning what type of publishing is the best deal for you is the first step in Smart Publishing.

Publishers are such an Enigma for some of us. We seldom have the opportunity to meet a real publisher. One of the reasons I wanted the Rev Patricia on The Kat Kanavos Show was to show our audience that she is a real, approachable person. I asked her what it is she looks for in publishable material. Her answer is very direct in the video.

So I ask you, “Do you have a sacred story to tell?”

Who better to entrust it with than a US Marine turned Reverend?
