Dreamers in crisis may find the Holidays difficult and unfriendly. If you know someone who dreams of a time long ago, you could say that person longs for their “days of yore.” Yore, means “a time long ago,” and is used in the same manner as yesteryear, days-gone-by, and the golden-oldie times. To compensate for present-day stress, we may reflect on and dream of returning to our “Days of Yore” for emotional balance, as shared in the Dream Interpretation below.

The past is a great place to visit for gaining strength during an unbalanced time in our life. However, the past is not a good place to live.

Dream Question: What is a Dream Duality? I often see the number 2 or 11 in my dreams. Is this a Dream Duality?
Carl G. Jung based his “Analytical Psychology” on the question of opposites (dualities) and researched them in his patient’s dreams. Jung notes that duality is the origination of opposition such as up-down, in-out, and peace-war. If there are two sides to a coin, metaphorically speaking, that is a duality. More dualities are love and hate, up and down, black-white. All of us contain these opposites in our waking world, and this is often replayed or reflected in our sleeping world of dreams because our dreams are often a microcosm of our waking world. Dreams can be a place for profound problem solving by offering the dreamer “both sides of the same coin.” The dreaming mind can work out a solution using all the information available to it. Numbers in dreams can be powerful messages. The number 2 in a dream can mean duality, balance through observing both sides of the same issue. 11 and the number 20 in dreams can also be seen as dualities because the number 11= 1+1=2= Duality and 20 is 2+0=2=Duality.
Dream: I’m Homeless! Kat, this has been the worst year of my life. My husband has been jobless since ’09, and I’m still jobless since 2010. We’ve exhausted our means. I don’t sleep much due to worries, but I had a Dream of being homeless. I had a dream that I lived back in a house that isn’t possible to live in anymore. It made me very sad.~Beth
Beth, this year has indeed been a challenge for you and your family. Your dream may be reflecting your fear and stress. If this were my dream, I would think of it as a duality. Duality refers to having two parts, often with opposite meanings, like the duality of good and evil. See the Dream Question for more information on Dream Dualities. Your dream may be reflecting what you are enduring and your waking dream-wish of going home to better times. It is giving you a break from your remorse but also telling you that you cannot go back to the past. It is a dream of the old saying, “You cannot go home, again.” Yesterday is gone. You must live in the NOW and face forward into the future. It is very normal to reflect on happier times, in happier places, especially when times are tough. But, the past is not a place you want to live in, and your dream may be telling you that. Use the strength of your past memories to propel you into your future. You have taken your first step in facing your future by writing down your dream and sharing it here with your Tribe. Take the next step NOW to recapture your happy past by using your dream as guidance for your future. My heart and that of Positive Tribe is with you during these difficult times, and we are here for you.
