7 Ways to Simplify Your Life

7 Ways to Simplify Your Life November 3, 2014

chachaDeep into the darkness peering, long I stood there, wondering, fearing,

Doubting, dreaming dreams no mortal ever dared to dream before.

~Edgar Allan Poe, “The Raven”

October is always busy, and although every year I say that I refuse to double and triple book my schedule, I always do. This year has been no exception. And I leave myself exhausted and emotional. Pinholes into my energy are poked and I am prone to illness and an overall sad feeling, mainly from sleep deprivation. We all have done it. And many of us still do it despite knowing better. On top of a crazy schedule, a lot of traveling, a book release, a son in his last year of high school, my eldest step-daughter got married on Halloween. It was nuts, but I did {most of} it to myself.

November 1st I decided would be a day where I took time to stay in my pajamas, catch up on reading, some writing and over all taking the steps to replenish my soul and find the lessons. It was during my meditation when I heard – “It’s not quitting, it’s simplifying”! For many years I was in a relationship where I was made to feel like a quitter if I decided that something wasn’t up my alley. If it didn’t feel vibrational right for that moment and I took it to heart and went forth determined that I wouldn’t quit anything and I would show this person that how brave and strong I was, even after the relationship ended. During my soul searching I realized that I programmed myself to take on too much because if I let anything go it would be considered quitting.  My guides often tell me – “You are not the image that they think you, you are the image you create for you.” And isn’t that the truth? After almost fifteen years of living with the thorns it took one meditation in my pajamas to have an ah ha awakening and face old demons.

You won’t always get the opportunity to peer into your own demons, nor will you want to. You may run away and hide, but don’t hide for too long because it is then that you begin to believe the lies you tell yourself.

7 Ways to Simplify Your Life

1. Stop stepping away from what scares you. It is okay if you feel threatened at first. But don’t allow the fear of the moment to jade your intuition.

2. Stop envisioning what you don’t want and envision what you want. Like a movie, see how you want it to be played out. Write your story the way that you want it go. Actually get out a paper and pen out and write it. Write out the things that scare you and really look at it. You will probably see that it isn’t as scary as you think.

3. Stop spending time with people who don’t deserve you in their lives.

4. Quit holding on to the past. So often we hold on to past mistakes, the would ofs, could ofs and should ofs, which only prevents seeing the now and fogging the vision of the future.

5. Stop waiting for the right time. You make the right time!

6. Quit wanting everything to be perfect. You were born to be real, not perfect.

7. Quit trying to buy happiness and instead enjoy moments and not things.

Fear holds us all back from our own success in all aspects of our life. After that I meditation I grabbed a piece of paper and made two lists – All the things I’ve been wanting to do and putting off, such as take ballroom dancing lessons, making time for lunch with friends, look at taking a piano lesson, start writing the novel that I’ve always wanted to do, etc. The second list was all the ways in which I could do to simplify my life. It was amazing at how clear things looked after I simplified.
