Bathroom Renovations and Patience

Bathroom Renovations and Patience November 27, 2017

My family and I moved into an older farmhouse September 2016. I fell in love with the home immediately, all the while knowing there would be renovations. One project at a time, I told my husband and my dad, who also lives with us. My dad isn’t a one project at a time kind of guy, though, so painting, landscaping, counter tops, floors, and more commenced. We decided to put the bathroom renovation on hold, but then we noticed the wall under the shower buckling and it felt wet. I called in a contractor to re-tile the shower. A three day job. He started early in the morning and then the contractor called out, “Kristy, you need to see this.”

During a bathroom remodel we found water damage from a leak and mold.

While we waited for the main bath to be remediated, our contractor fixed up this bath for us.

It wasn’t good. It was water damage and scary mold where the insurance company and mold remediation contractors had to get involved. <If ever in this situation make sure to get several bids. We found that many mold remediation companies to have questionable ethics as you are in a frightening state and they’re okay with preying on that.>

My dad was pouting. He didn’t want to put up the Christmas tree or decorate, and then we received a happy call from our contractor telling us that he would be spending the next couple weeks with us early. And we now have a wall, and the Christmas tree is up.

So what was supposed to be one easy bathroom renovation ended up in two, and a lot of patience.
