Espionage against the US: FBI fingers Israeli spy in Pentagon
That would explain a lot

Presidential candidate Ralph Nader drew shock and outrage last week for his comments describing US politicians as being “puppets of Israel” and claiming that US policy in the region appears identical to that of Israel, rather than the policy of an independent country looking out for its own interests. Even as Nader continues to be tarred as a conspiracy theorist (or worse), it seems that a new and disturbing announcement by the FBI regarding a espionage investigation in the Pentagon might prove him right. Apparently, the FBI claims it has solid evidence that one or more moles in the Pentagon have leaked secret White House policy deliberations on Iran to Israel, and may have used their influence to direct US policy in Israel’s favor. “This investigation has been going on for some time,” said one senior Defense official. “We were notified of it a long time ago and have been working closely with the Justice Department.” The individuals in question, who are closely linked with pro-Israel Pentagon hawks Paul Wolfowitz and Douglas Feith, allegedly used American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) as a conduit for the top-secret information. The case also raises a concern among investigators as to whether Israel also used the security breach to try to influence US policy on the war in Iraq. CNN reports that the investigation has been described by one official as a “slam dunk case.” If proven true, this would be the second time that Israel has been caught red-handed spying against America, the first being convicted spy Jonathan Pollard, who is serving a life sentence for espionage despite strong efforts by conservative US Jewish groups and Israel itself to seek a pardon for him. It would also suggest that the first case of Israel spying on the US – a breach that some security officials consider the worst ever against the US – was not a fluke. To veteran Muslim watchers of US foreign policy, it would certainly explain a lot about lopsided US policy in the region.
