Set Up a Meeting with the Organizer or Organization

Before an event takes place, request a meeting with the organizer or organization to discuss who the invited speakers will be. If a panel discussion or event occurs with a lack of female speakers, ask for a post-event meeting to ask them to look into the suggested speakers you have for future events. Push them to make a deeper commitment to creating spaces for female speakers, scholars and subject area experts to benefit the community with their expertise and knowledge. Ensure their commitment isn’t just to get a token sister to be on an all-male panel.

This meeting should not be to debate or shame the organization or organizers. Stick to your mission: To create a space for female speakers, scholars and subject area experts. If you let it become personal, your intentions are for your ego and not for the betterment of the community.
