Ten Self-Care Tips for Faith-Based Activists

trust10)   Remember that Allah’s Got This

This may be the most difficult for us to internalize, but we need to realize that not everything is within our hands. Allah is testing us with injustices and tragedies in the world. We are only human and must realize that Allah is just and is in control. We are merely vessels for His good to be done.

When we remind ourselves of this, the tragedies and injustices we see in the world that we are unable to change with our own hands become a bit easier to process in our hearts and minds. The most powerful way to start to change a situation is to really make sincere du’a for the injustice or tragedy.

If you do have the opportunity to reach out to the victims of injustice do so and show empathy, but if you’re unable to hug or hold the victim of injustice, then at the very least know that Allah is Just, the Most Merciful and ultimately has things in His control. The key is for us to continue to have patience, persevere and empower ourselves and others to make changes in the world around us.
