Ten Self-Care Tips for Faith-Based Activists

ship tragedy5)      Avoid Comparing Tragedies and Injustices

One unfortunate phenomenon that has been happening with the numerous tragedies and injustices occurring in the world is comparing whose scar is bigger, whose pain is more important and whose injustice should demand more attention. Yes, we know there are many tragedies and injustices occurring in the world.

But, what matters is not whose pain and suffering is more, but how to actually address the pain and suffering and how to ultimately solve the problems.

We can constantly compare tragedies and injustices and complain about how certain stories don’t get news coverage or public attention, or we could actually raise attention to the tragedies or injustices we’re saying aren’t getting enough coverage. (See the above point — offer practical solutions and be pro-active!)

We all have pain, suffering and injustices we care about. The key is to work together with like-minded individuals, organizations and activists on causes and issues we care about to actually make a difference on the ground.
