The Trials of Our Times
Had some time to kill as I was at the airport waiting to depart and ran into these two lovelies. I started thinking about the historic challenges our country is facing this election and how much our values as a country have depreciated over the past few months. I envisioned members of our American Muslim community endorsing, believing and pushing for their choice of candidate while contemplating the marginalization that each candidate would play into motion to serve their individual aspirations of reaching the mountain top.
The only sound conclusion that I have is that I will not let either party take control over our narrative. American Muslims have been here since the enslaved Africans, then the civil rights movement and more recently through the immigrant community. We have made solid contributions towards building the fabric of this society. We are entrepreneurs, educators, policy makers and blue collar workers striving and investing blood and sweat equity to make America a better place, yet go totally unnoticed for it. Looking at the images of these two “Leaders” creates a resolve within me that I will be my own institution, build my own bridges, initiate my own projects of positivity and author plus amplify my own story. The only leader I’ll be endorsing is the Messenger of Allah Messenger ﷺ. #ResolutionsInRamadan
