Imams should work to develop relationships with the community at large and ensure that the local community knows an imam is in the area and is available if anyone has any questions about Islam and Muslims. Building relationships with local businesses, non-profits, social services and local neighborhoods and neighboring businesses to the imam’s masjid is critical to building bridges of understanding and helping bring in resources to the community.

This community outreach includes elementary schools, high schools, universities and prisons.
