Mark Mattson, senior investigator for the National Institute on Aging, which is part of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and a professor of neuroscience at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, has conducted many studies on fasting in animals and humans. According to his other’s research, fasting several days a week might help your brain fight off neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s while at the same time improving memory and mood.[4]
