Last year I submitted (an abstract of) my still unfinished MA dissertation for Bristol and was accepted. While there I learned that they (must have) accepted pretty much everything. They had 1450 ‘participants’ – and the preliminary program I received included 2500 presentations with many people presenting twice (I assume also that many of those in the preliminary program simply could not make it to the conference).

This year I think I’ll submit my work on “Sartre and Subjectivity” from last Spring along with “Who or What is a Dalai Lama” from my MA work in Bristol. Both deal roughly with the work I’ll do my thesis on here: personal identity/subjectivity. Also it will give me two more opportunities to hone my conference/presentation skills. For the (aspiring) academic, such skills are quite necessary and like Aristotle’s virtues they can only be developed by habituation.
