Another weekend in Glacier…

Another weekend in Glacier… October 22, 2008

I just spent my third weekend in Glacier in as many months, focused now more than ever on photographing the beauty there. I take pictures not so much to capture nature as to see her more fully. It can be a meditation in itself, an opportunity for awareness of the moment, of stepping into a creative flow, an open dialog with the world.

You never quite know what life will give you in a place like Glacier National Park. Sun can be wiped out by hailstones in mid-summer, rain may give way to blue skies, a bear may stumble across the road ahead of you or wolves may break the forest silence with eerie howls.

It is a microcosm of life itself, is it not?

I have, as usual, much work to do these days. Another article for wildmind (on Solitude) soon, article proposals for conferences, writing for my thesis (as always) and so on. We will also show some of our Glacier pics from two weeks ago at a gallery in town in December. So I’ll be fine-tuning some of those as best I can. Of course there is also the VisionBoard book coming out in less than two weeks, exams to grade, fun to be had.

May all beings find peace in the flow of this world, chaotic as it may sometimes seem.
