The paper went great, far better than I had expected (considering I was still piecing it together at 4:30 on the afternoon of the 6pm talk). The discussion was great and thoughful and everyone had very nice things to say. It was completely unlike giving papers in America (just kidding).
Tomorrow I’m off to Bristol, first to Hodgkin House (where I lived 4 years ago whilst completing my MA in Buddhist Studies) to see at least one remaining old housemate, Jiaming. Then I’m off to SJ’s, then to the Uni for a visit and who knows what else. Then back to London and then, finally, home again.
Anywho…. Lovely pics of beautiful (posh) Cheltenham soon. But for now a note from someone’s email on one of those lists I’m on (I’m not sure how true to the original Shantideva it is, e.g. eagles for Garudas doesn’t seem good – but oh well).
When crows find a dying snake,
They behave as if they were eagles.
When I see myself as a victim,
I am hurt by trifling failures.— Shantideva (by way of Stephen Batchelor)
