The Travels continue

The Travels continue January 24, 2009

I find myself with an odd mixture of just wanting to be home again, in my old rhythm and comfy bed, and wishing I could stay longer to see people, take day-trips out, photograph more, and (at some point) spend more serious time reading/writing. Just a few more days, a few more adventures, a few more old faces that I haven’t seen in too long. And probably a mad day at the British Library photocopying everything I can get my hands on that I can’t find in the US.

A market in Cheltenham.
The loo at Gloucestershire University, Cheltenham.
I feel like we lack such shiny things in the US.

Reminiscent of so many good times in Bristol – playing with Soorjya, Jei Ma, SJ, Ana, Katherine, and Jiaming (who I met up with and played again Friday).

Dinner out Friday.
Indian food with (left to right) Fabio, Moragh, Francesca, Theresa, Anna, SJ, and me.

A walk in Westonbrit, a national Arboretum, with Anna (left) and Fabio (center).
Yes, I’ll be happy to be home again, back at work, back with Julie, back with friends – but I’m already thinking about how I can manage to return (soon) to spend another 2 weeks, 4 weeks, 6 weeks (?) here. And next time it’ll be mostly in Bristol/west of England…. With the GB Pound so low I don’t feel at all poor here – finally – and with the economy (everywhere it seems) going down, prices are dropping like mad. So it’s actually a great time for me, oddly enough, to be here. We’ll see though – there is work to be done in MT and plenty of good times there to be had.
