Meditation week at UM

Meditation week at UM April 25, 2009

I will be hosting guided meditations for UM’s “Stress Less” week, sponsored by Peers Reaching Out, this semester from May 5th through the 7th. The meditations will run from 10am-2pm, in one-hour blocks, and I am hoping to find some volunteers to lead some of those meditations. The schedule each day will roughly be:

10-10:10, open time / break while people come and go

10:10, meditation leader begins with a short explanation of meditation basics

10:25, begin guided meditation

10:45, Q & A, discussion

(11am- repeat)

The guided meditation should be a mindfulness of breathing exercise, though we might try to mix in metta bhavana if that is an interest. In either case it should be fun and well within the capacity of anyone who has been meditating for a while. Mostly we’ll be creating a place of calm and focus amidst the chaos of the week before finals.

Please pass this on and contact me at buddhistethics@gmail.com if you are interested in joining in either as a leader or assisting in any other way. I’ll be putting together a schedule of volunteers over the next week.

Many thanks!
