Weekend photos

Weekend photos March 1, 2010

Getting a little extra time to submit my Mphil upgrade is a blessing, as the weather is turning very nice here and demands both outside-time and attention to visuals (photographically speaking). Plus, friends are crawling out of winter slumbers and overall creative energy seems to be in the air… Here are some select pics to help start out the week beautifully…

The sun had just set on us tonight when I caught this reflection. It’s the top of the Break Espresso building, reflected in the mirror of a very shiny Harley.
Trooper, Matt’s brilliantly well-trained Husky-Wolf mix. (Matt being my friend and fellow Pāli student)
Ripples in the Clark Fork. The historic Wilma Building is reflected serenely watching over this sun drenched morning.
Perspective. Under the Higgins St. bridge along the river trail. It’s an 18mm shot, which makes me wish I had a 14mm(yea right), 10mm or a fish-eye (as you can see from the links, these aren’t exactly cheap, but they do some very fun things).
A lovely photographer, Julie sporting her also lovely Nikon D90, along the trail with Mount Jumbo in the background.
The obligatory shadow-shot.
Amazing home-made pizza and my 10-year old beloved Chinese Kitchen Knife (this is a delicate, precision instrument – don’t call it a clever!).
No-sauce pizza. Can we just say ‘melt in your mouth.’

Broccoli + tuna.
Nate and Kimber, having fun.
And Amy.
Dani y su mujer Marga, mis amigos de Espa

ñia.

I’m not sure which is more alluring in this photo: the leaf or the air bubbles in the ice. Originally it was the leaf that drew me in, wondering why the ice wouldn’t freeze over it – did it give off heat as it slowly broke down, returning to the earth? But the bubbles caught my  imagination as I fooled with the shot on my computer.
Speaking of imagination; leave it to a four-legged critter to keep the kid alive in you.  Here’s the ruler of the house, Oliver, having his way with my beer box.

And finally something of a happy accident. A 20+ second exposure on my bike ride home tonight following my friend and his dog (above).
