Here are some photos from last night’s welcoming ceremony for Gochen Tulku Sang-ngag Rinpoche at Ewam in Arlee, Montana. The Sanga up there is really getting fired up now that they have a deadline to finish their Garden of 1000 Buddhas and plenty of planning to do for the visit of His Holiness the Dalai Lama in the fall of 2011.
See my recent “How to make a Buddha” post for photos on the Buddha-makin’ that you can get involved in if you’re in the area. The monk, Konchog Norbu, from Bozeman has already been down and is coming back tomorrow – and word has it that ZeNazi (j/k) John from way out there in the wasteland of South Dakota may make a visit too. And last night I got to meet Padma Yontel (bald guy in the 4th picture down) from Helena and was happy to hear that he has a group there and will be taking back a mold to make Buddhas in my home town. You too can come on out. They have places to stay at the “gompa” and all are welcome – be sure to contact them first though, so you don’t stumble into a packed retreat.
