Lots going on, little time. Here are the tidbits:
- I was accepted into the woodenfish in Taiwan program; they’re still taking applications and if you’re a more advanced grad student, definitely look at their China program. Well worth it – email me/comment if you have any questions I can help with.
- Next up is applying to teach in India with Antioch. My good friend Rev. Danny Fisher worked on this program as has our new UM Buddhism prof and hopefully soon I will too. (please don’t apply, I need as little competition as I can get!)
- After hearing that our county may have to start shutting down polling places due to a lack of election judges, I dutifully signed up and completed my election judge training this evening (me and two other sub-50 somethings in a room full of your stereotypical election judges). T’was fun. I got to role-play the “angry voter” and of course was confused and laughing the whole time: “darn it… what do I say? Oh… I’m angry!”
- Hoping to blog about technology a bit soon – fun gadgets and whatnot. My girlfriend is close to getting a Mac and I’m pretty excited – hoping to stress test it a bit vs my hp/Windows 7.
- I just received a friendly challenge from the Bitterroot Badger, aka Konchog Norbu, on reaching 500 twitter followers and had to reveal my secret rivalry with the above-mentioned Danny (who’s already on his way to 600, grrrr).
- I’m 427 people delinquent on responding to twitter followers (sorry) and will tackle that tonight (I hope).
- I’ve gone a week without serious Pāli study – kind of scary, plans to meet tomorrow though. Phew.
- I have been invited to act as sort-of official photographer for the return trip of Gochen Tulku Sang-ngag Rinpoche this weekend, a great honor… but…
- We’ve just made plans to trek up to Freezeout Lake with friends to see if we can catch part of the Canadian Snow Goose migration. So I’ll catch the Rinpoche Thursday and Friday, but not over the weekend.
- Oh, and I submitted a paper to a small competition, should hear back in May.
Busy times. More to come soon.
