Calling for Hubal’s Aid in Divination

Calling for Hubal’s Aid in Divination February 21, 2021

Yesterday an aunt asked me for some help. She was told she had the Evil Eye and asked me to see what was happening, where it came from, from who, why, and so on. Being the familiar guy I have always been, I said yes right away and took my tarot cards the second I had them with me. Although I always pray and ask for guidance when I perform any kind of divination, this time I felt the need to do something different. The first thing I thought about was asking Hubal for help.

From Thoughts to Words

Taking a deep breath and focusing on my intent, thinking that I needed a clear, complete answer to help her defend herself from whichever energy was affecting her, I let my thoughts take the form of words. It sounds poetic and mystical, but I guess that’s what being a Sha’ir in the making is about. I didn’t think much about it and didn’t plan anything beforehand, so it came as a surprise that the prayer rhymed.

As I’ve said before, Arabic changes a bit depending on which country you are from, so here’s the English version of my prayer, so feel free to say it in the Arabic of your preference:

Oh Hubal, come to me,

Oh Hubal, help me,

Oh Hubal, listen to me,

Oh Hubal, come to my side.

I shuffled the tarot deck a bit more, reciting the first four lines of the Eko Eko Chant, I took the cards and focused on them, really letting myself open to their message and keeping all preconceived ideas out of my mind. I felt as if a soft wind came inside of me, calming me down and taking away any doubt and fear I could have. After that, I got a clear answer, one of the most detailed ones I’ve had lately.

Spell Included

What surprised me, however, is that I also got a simple spell to banish the Evil Eye when I looked at the reading for the last time. And a very simple one, by the way, which is also a bonus if you ask me. There are so many spells and rituals that ask for complicated steps and fancy elements anyone can easily feel overwhelmed.

With a white candle in the center, form an X with four golden coins close to the main entrance of your house and light the candle, thinking about what’s happening and the change you desire. Let the candle burn out, trash the residues and keep the coins with you, but consider repeating the spell if you feel you need to or the effects persist.

As I told my aunt, the X blocks, the white candle lights and cleanses it all, the coins attract good vibes, prosperity if they are golden, and being fours gives stability and strength in everything you may need. In short, it creates a shield that burns the bad energies and attracts the positive ones. I knew this the second I looked at the cards.

The surprising part is that this is the first time a reading comes with a spell included. Usually, I only offer guidance and comfort, maybe ideas that came to my mind that could help the person I was making the reading for, but never before I got something like this.

I’m inclined to think that, since Evil Eye is usually the result of envy, Hubal could have also given this solution since he’s related to revenge. It would be his form of retribution, to make sure the right thing is done. It can also be because I got a copy of the Tarot of the Thousand and One Nights, by Léon Carré, which I’m only using for myself and Arabic people.

No matter the reason, I got a strong feeling that this was what she had to do, and of course, I’m helping her from the distance. It still amazes me that I had this connection and being given such a clear answer, but it means things are going on the right way, that my relationship with the God is on the right track, so I can only encourage everyone who wants to give it a try to do it and practice on their own to strengthen their bond with Hubal if they are interested.
