Hey guys – so I am heading into surgery today (Friday), as many of you read this I’m probably already out. But I’m not going to be posting today (Friday) or on Monday, to give myself some down time to heal up. But I’ll be back and at it Wednesday. I just wanted to ask you guys for your prayers as I’ve never had surgery, and am… a little bit scared, lol. But really. So if you guys could pray for a... Read more

Today’s post is written by Andrew Steven. If you would have asked any doctor before 2007 what your appendix does, they would respond with, nothing. It serves no purpose. A remnant of the past. Perhaps an evolutionary glitch. That’s one of the reasons we are quick to remove them when they become infected. But in 2007, a team of scientists from Duke University discovered a fundamentally new idea about how the appendix works. Our appendices, as it turns out, are basically... Read more

When I was a kid I was made fun of a lot… and consistently. One day I couldn’t take it anymore and ran out of class crying, bursting through the door humiliated. (more…) Read more

So wait, God is one god… but three in one…   Father. Son. Holy Spirit. Singular in nature & character, but yet plural in person. Distinguishable yet indivisible…? (more…) Read more

I recently stumbled upon a quote from Anne Rice, who in 2010 decided to “quit Christianity,”  saying, “…I quit being a Christian. I’m out. In the name of Christ, I refuse to be anti-gay. I refuse to be anti-feminist. I refuse to be anti-democrat. I refuse to be anti-science. I refuse to be anti-life. In the name of Christ, I quit Christianity and being Christian. Amen.” Sadly, it’s hard to disagree with her. It’s easy to see her point. There’s... Read more

Someone asked me the other day, “if I could define my year of seminary in one word what would that one word be?” I paused and thought, and then I responded: “Reflection.” (more…) Read more

I’ve always loved to travel. My dream has been to sell all my possessions, and drive across country with no time limit, buying a van that is big enough for me to lay down and sleep in the back, but yet small enough that it won’t cost me a fortune on gas. As an introvert, I’ve loved the idea of being alone on the open road. But recently I’ve begun to question that. Question the alone part. (more…) Read more

Full Disclosure: My mother was 19 when she gave birth to me. My dad unknown. I was adopted then later kicked out of my house before I graduated high school. In high school I had a 1.8 GPA. I was born fatherless to a 19 year old mother, homeless, breaking into my high schools locker room at the age of 18. My freshman year in college I remember reading the bible on my own for the first time. I was shocked. After skimming through it and reading the red letters (Jesus’ words), I put the bible down and I distinctly remember thinking three things: Jesus is a badass. Whether or not He’s God, I want to be just like Him. How have I never heard about this Jesus, I’m reading about, in church? (more…) Read more

I never fully understood grace. I grew up in a conservative evangelical church, and have worked in only conservative evangelical churches, where the gospel was assumed and not necessarily displayed or talked about at large… For Example: If you went to a rated “R” movie If you said a “Thats what she said” joke If you dated instead of courted If you even kissed a girl rather then kissed dating goodbye …then you might be going to hell, not definitively, just possibly. So... Read more
