Can a “Relationship Sabbatical” help your marriage?

2.  A relationship sabbatical will only create more marital problems.

When we look outside our marriage for another person to fulfill our sexual desires that are only meant to be satiated by our spouse, we are asking for trouble on many levels.  First of all, we open ourselves up to all the emotional wreckage that comes with an extramarital affair.  Secondly, we will find that our marital problems cannot be fixed by having an affair, so we will be left disappointed and in the midst of a marital disaster.  Lastly, we must recognize that when we choose to engage in a hall pass, we are being selfish and using this other person as simply a warm body to hopefully fulfill our sexual fantasies.
