3. Seeking sexual satisfaction from anyone or anything other than your husband.
We are sexual beings, and let me be clear here–there is absolutely nothing wrong with fantasizing about your spouse. Sex is a beautiful and important part of marriage, and it should be enjoyable for both the husband and the wife. But, we open ourselves up to having an emotional and/or sexual affair when we allow other people into our fantasy through things like porn, erotica, sexually explicit romance novels, and certain television programs. We may tell ourselves that we aren’t affected by these, but the honest truth is WE ARE. Porn and sexually explicit writing change the way we think about sex and the expectations we have for our husband. Instead of allowing these counterfeit sexual fantasies into our bedroom, talk to your husband about your desires, needs, and expectations for your sex life. Be honest and open with one another. This is a major step towards real intimacy.
