3. You and your spouse are NOT OPPONENTS when it comes to money. You are A TEAM, so you win together and lose together.
This is especially hard when one spouse is trying to stick to the budget and create more income while the other is not. It’s vital for a couple to be on the same page.
If you and your spouse are constantly arguing over money and can’t seem to get on the same page–as in operating out of the same budget, aggressively trying to generate income, trying to cut costs, and eliminating debt–then, you must find a way to create a feasible plan that works for both of you.
If addressing this issue only seems to cause a fight, then write down your feelings, goals, and concerns first. Read through it, and make corrections. Then, exchange papers with your spouse, and when you BOTH are calm, sit down and discuss it.
These conversations can be awkward and upsetting, but when we approach our spouse as our beloved teammate instead of our financial archenemy, we will be able to get on the same page and cultivate a financial plan that works.
