Having A Bad Day? This Should Make You Feel Better… September 26, 2019

I have a confession to make. Sometimes I feel discouraged or just plain bummed out. If you can relate, I have something I’d like to share with you. I’ve discovered a “secret weapon” that always makes me feel better. Instead of feeling sorry for myself and riding out the storm (which I did for many years), I reach for my Bible and let the Lord speak to me. Almost instantly, I start to feel a little better. Here’s an example…

For the LORD takes delight in his people. (Psalm 149:4)

This is one of those messages that we sometimes overlook because it’s too simple or fluffy. Don’t! It’s an incredible statement. Here’s why. You may be feeling all bummed out and down, but that’s not how the Lord is feeling. He’s rejoicing just because you exist. In fact, he created you because his universe was incomplete without you. It doesn’t matter how many zillions of other people existed in the world, he wanted a “you”. Therefore, he created you with all of your quirks and weaknesses because he wants to have a relationship with you. Isn’t that amazing? Here’s something even better. When you spend time with him, he is ecstatic. He loves you so much that he’ll take you as you are – grouchy, tired, discouraged, etc.

You really are one very, special person!

Let’s pray together…

Hallelujah! Sing to the LORD a new song, his praise in the assembly of the faithful. Let Israel be glad in its maker, the people of Zion rejoice in their king. Let them praise his name in dance, make music with tambourine and lyre. (Psalm 149:1-3)
