Visiting Potter’s Domain

Visiting Potter’s Domain 2015-03-13T23:08:09-04:00

Picture, if you will, a European castle, rather like Neuschwanstein in Germany in the middle of a bunch of palm trees. It reminds me of the Sesame Street song ‘which of these things is not like the other’. Nevertheless, this is what you encounter at Universal Studios new and impressive village and ride dedicated to Harry Potter. It was something of a major coup when Universal won this franchise’s rights over Disney, but I digress. If you are wondering if this relatively new area at Universal is worth a visit to Orlando, the answer is a resounding— YES! It’s easily the best thing they’ve got going, if you can avoid the books with teeth.

For one thing they’ve got talking pictures all over the walls of this castle.

And did I mention talking hats or Hogwart’s uniforms?

For another thing you can buy flying brooms at one of their stores in the village.

Or how about games played at Hogwarts, including quidditch?

The castle itself, as well as the village is just stunning and spectacular, not to mention that the ride within the castle is the best thing the whole of Universal has to offer (with the exception of the Spiderman and Minion Madness rides).

The trip to the Owl Post Office was especially fun as well. You can buy a magic wand or two there. And have your own name engraved on them. And you can run into a talking book. In fact you can go to Potter village and simply stay there most of a day as there is so much to see and do there.
