Exploring Greece, Israel, and Jordan— Part Twelve

Exploring Greece, Israel, and Jordan— Part Twelve July 1, 2018

Was Homer color blind? He talks about the ‘wine dark’ seas of the Aegean, and they are dark colored. It’s just that the color is a very dark blue……

I do mean dark blue. The wake of the boat churns up the water and makes it look greener, but if not churned up it is a deep navy blue (can’t call it a Duke blue). And the only way to travel between the islands is this JetBoat—- As you can see, it’s a sort of jet propelled catamaran. And it can flat fly across the top of the water. Normal ferry time from Mykonos to Santorini— 5 hours. This puppy can do it in 2!! Like wow.

It’s super smooth, it’s air conditioned. It has a nice little deli bar, clean bath rooms, and super comfortable chairs. It takes cars, trucks and people. And it is the only way to go island to island. It even beats flying if you are island hopping because flying involves— Mykonos to Athens, and then Athens to Santorini, with rare exceptions.
