Confronting OT Controversies– Part Six

Confronting OT Controversies– Part Six April 11, 2019

Q. You and I share a high view of Scripture and its truth content on subjects it intends to teach us about. Over many years of working on the OT, has your confidence grown or been more challenged in thinking the Bible is trustworthy and true? What does it mean to say the Bible is God’s Word, and God breathed (2 Tim. 3.16) a statement made specifically about the OT.

A. Yes, I have been studying the Bible professionally for over forty years. And my confidence in the truth content of the Scripture has only grown over the years. What it means to say that the Bible is God’s Word is that, though God used humans to write the books of the Bible, God is the ultimate author who is revealing himself through these writings. I believe that this means that the Bible is true in everything that it intends to teach or affirm.
