For those of you in the know, it will not be news that the Trans Siberian Orchestra (using the term orchestra loosely) has been around for 21 years worth of touring, particularly during the Christmas season. Having never seen them Ann and I were not sure what to expect. Let me just say that Mannheim Steamroller, these guys are not!! Their show is a cross between a Christmas musical and a visit to a Metallica concert. Yes you get to hear some familiar phrases and words from familiar Christmas songs of various sorts. But basically this is a hard rock interpretation of all such material, and bring your earplugs. My ears are still ringing. The singing and playing is very well done (and did I mention LOUD) but the really transfixing thing is the moist spectacular pyrotechnic and laser light show you are ever likely to see…. hence the photos below…. The show involves a loosely connected story line about an angel surveying the earth in various places and looking for the spirit of Christmas amongst the hordes of humanity.
