Romans 3.18— There is no fear of God in their eyes.

Today, statistics show that the average individual has no fear of God. He or she does not live with eternity in view. He has forgotten that he is not an animal but rather is created in the image of God, a living soul. He is unaware that he will have to answer to God. He who has not vision of eternity has no hold on time.

I personally have had a long life to look back upon, and an eternity to look forward to. You don’t hear much about eternity today. Perhaps this picture of humanity, with no fear of God in their eyes is morbid and dark but it is what the Bible says. The truth is that God looks on all who are outside of Christ, as lost, as part of the death sentence generation. But using what we are as a dark background he paints of radiant picture of what we can be in Jesus Christ.  He says ‘if anyone is in Christ, he is new creature, old things are passed away, behold all things are become new.  Through Christ we can experience a resurrection. He said ‘I am come that you might have life and have it more abundantly.’  He also said ‘I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live.

Just as certainly as Jesus walked into the tomb of the dead Lazarus and called him forth alive, so also he will impart to you his redeeming power, his life-giving resurrection power. He will change your nature so that instead of going out of the way, you will walk in his way. Instead of profanity and obscenity flowing from your mouth, it will be a well of praise and adoration to him.  He will take away your heart of stone and give you a new heart so that your every desire will be to please Him and serve your fellow human beings.  And he will share your burdens, strengthen you and be a true companion who will guide your feet in life’s perilous journey if you will only receive Him into your heart.
